CBD might be the holistic solution that your veterinarian is unlikely to be talking about, –yet!
Have you considered CBD for your dog?
Nowadays, CBD is all the rage and anywhere you look online you will find articles sharing that CBD can alleviate inflammation, anxiety, and other conditions in the body. The compound CBD is derived from the hemp plant and is non-psychoactive, meaning it doesn’t get your dog ‘high’ and it will not produce any euphoric feeling in the minds of dogs, or humans for that matter.
You are probably wondering if CBD oil is a safe option for your pet.
Similar to humans, dogs have endocannabinoid receptors located in the central and peripheral nervous systems. These receptors help maintain balance in the body and upkeep a normal healthy state. (1) As CBD products grow in popularity, the trend has now trickled into pet products that are being purchased by dog owners.
You may have reservations about giving your dog CBD, but if your pet is in pain and you are desperate to find a better and healthier solution for your fur baby—there is hope! CBD might be the holistic solution that your veterinarian is unlikely to be talking about, –yet!
Do you remember the days of your pup running and jumping around the yard? If the play has been replaced with limping, struggling to make it upstairs, not wanting to go on walks, and sitting in their bed all day, it could be due to canine arthritis. Canine arthritis can affect both older and younger dogs. Arthritis is a painful inflammation and stiffening of the joints; as dogs grow older, the cartilage between their bones begins to thin and movement in the bone joints becomes very painful. There is limited evidence besides anecdotal evidence from dog owners, however, many report that their dogs become much more active after using the CBD oil.
One particular study from 2018, published in the journal, Frontiers in Veterinary Science, looked at dogs suffering from Osteoarthritis. According to the results, researchers found “Hudson activity scores showed a significant decrease in pain and increase in activity with CBD oil.” (2) Hudson activity score—what is that you ask? The Hudson activity score is a way to gauge how a pet is feeling based on questions that the owner is presented with. Based on the study published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science, there was an 80% decrease in pain and improved mobility with no side effects. Normally, when a dog goes on anti-inflammatory drugs there are side effects, such as stress on their liver, kidneys, and other organs, causing more medical issues.
Some dogs simply don’t like loud noises like fireworks or thunderstorms, other dogs may find relief when given CBD for anxiety, nerve pain and more.

It is very hard to “overdose” on CBD and there is no one size fits all dosage, so be sure to always keep in mind that you should “Start low and go slow” whether trying CBD for the first time for your dog or yourself. In Hemp-derived products there may be THC (.3% or less) in the product if a full-spectrum oil was used to formulate, however here at High Purity we strictly formulate pet products with CBD isolate. Please note, THC could potentially be harmful to dogs and cause poisoning—it does take quite a lot to cause serious poisoning in dogs. In cases where pets have consumed THC by eating it, 96% of cases were dogs and only 3% were cats—it does affect cats the same way but they do not eat it as often. We recommend when you are considering using CBD for your pet that you check with your vet first. Keep in mind not to decide on price alone and stick to known and trusted brands when possible.
